beTech Labs

beTech Labs BeTech Labs is a place where beTech members can either start new or participate in existing Web software experiments. BeTech provides the server space for your experiment, you provide the imagination and innovation. It’s all about pushing the envelope and building a community of excellence here at the University of Virginia.

The beTech Labs blueprint was inspired by BeTech members and made possible through the cooperative support of The Office of The UVa Chief Information Officer. Features that beTech Labs uniquely offers are: real Web server platform choices, and a thriving community of equally passionate developers.

How Labs Works

Join a Lab

If a lab already exists with your interests, subscribe to the labs mailing list and participate. Experience the power of synergy. Don’t start a new lab if a like-minded lab already exists.

Request a New Lab

  1. Find a friend and review the How it Works page. All labs need at least two contacts. Think groupie…
  2. Next, using the DOAP creation tool, create a descriptor for your project idea and email it to betechlabs@list.mail.virginia.edu.
  3. Your request will be reviewed by the beTech Labs Committee. Once accepted the beTech server team will establish your development environment on the new beTech Edge servers and send you instructions.
